Ask how they'll fit in with the builder and other trades, and whether they can do after-hours work if the site is occupied.
Can you do the data too?
One contractor for power, lighting and data means fewer trades on site and one point of contact. Make sure they hold an Open Cabler Registration.
What about exit and emergency lighting?
Commercial spaces need compliant exit and emergency lighting, and it needs regular testing. Get it designed in from the start.
Is the switchboard big enough?
Tenancies often inherit a tired board. Check its capacity against your equipment list: commercial kitchens, hair salons and workshops draw a lot.
What paperwork will we get?
Expect safe work method statements on site, a compliance certificate at the end, and labelled boards. If your landlord or strata needs documents, ask up front.
