Induction needs a proper circuit
Most full-size induction cooktops need a dedicated circuit, and many need a bigger cable and breaker than an old ceramic or coil cooktop used. Check the installation manual for the required supply.
Coming from gas?
If you're replacing a gas cooktop, there may be no cooking circuit at all. We run a new circuit from the switchboard, which may need an upgrade if it's full or old.
Oven and cooktop together
If the oven and cooktop share a circuit, adding induction can overload it. We work out whether they need separate circuits.
Measure the cut-out
Cut-out sizes vary between brands. If you're keeping the benchtop, measure before you buy so the new cooktop fits.
Rangehoods
While we're there, a rangehood upgrade is easy. Ducting it outside clears steam and smells far better than recirculating.
