Coast Electrical Co: the electrical work

Jade runs in the cabling, wires the circuits, and installs and wall-mounts the switches, dimmers, sensors and controllers. All work is done by a licensed electrician, to the Australian wiring rules.

ICSR: set-up and programming

Illawarra Computer Service & Repairs programs the system, connects it to your Wi-Fi or network, sets up scenes and schedules, and shows you how to use the app.

Common questions

Who does what on a lighting control or automation job?

Jade (Coast Electrical Co) does all the electrical work: running in the cables, wiring the circuits, installing switches, dimmers, sensors and controllers, and wall-mounting the devices. Our partner Illawarra Computer Service & Repairs sets up and programs the system, connects it to your Wi-Fi or network and shows you how to use the app.

Do I get one quote or two?

You get one clear quote that covers both parts, so you know the full cost up front. Each business invoices for its own part of the work.

Can you add automation to an existing home or office?

Usually, yes. Many smart switches, dimmers and sensors fit standard wall boxes. Where new cabling is needed, we run it through the roof and walls as neatly as possible.

Is it better to wire for automation during a renovation or new build?

Yes. With the walls open, running extra cable and data costs far less, even if you add the smart devices later. Ask us to wire it in at the rough-in stage.

Does smart wiring have to be done by a licensed electrician?

Yes. Anything connected to 230V wiring, such as smart switches, dimmers, relays and hardwired sensors, must be installed by a licensed electrician in NSW. Jade holds NSW licence 404250C.
